Oldsmobile . How to Get Rid of a Dead Mouse Smell in a CarTo get rid of dead mouse smell in the car, the first thing to do is get rid of the dead mouse. Once removed, the dead mouse odor can last for several weeks. No matter how many scented candles, air fresheners or bags of potpourri you have kept in the car, this is just not enough to get rid of the hideous smell. These might mask the smell of the dead mouse temporarily but for a permanent solution, you need to do more. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Gloves HEPA mask 1 1/2 cup household bleach 5 cups water Spray bottle Plastic Bag Disinfectant cleaner Water Cloth Vacuum cleaner Vinegar Odor absorber or neutralizer Mint freshener or crushed leaves Step by Step : 1 Remove the dead decaying mouse from the car. Wear protective gear like gloves and a HEPA mask as the dead rodent may carry diseases. 2 Make a cleaning solution to coat the dead mouse with before removing it from the car. According to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, the solution can be made using a 1/2 cup of household bleach with 5 cups water. Pour the solution in a bottle and spray it on the mouse and let it soak for 15 minutes to kill all bacteria and viruses it might be carrying. 3 Put the dead mouse in a garbage bag and tie the ends tightly so the smell cannot escape. 4 Clean the affected area with a commercial disinfectant cleaner, water and cloth. Vacuum the car carpet and wipe the seats and gears properly. Consider getting the car interiors washed by a professional. 5 Spray some liquid bleach cleaning solution on the area where the dead animal was removed from. Liquid bleach will instantly give relief from odor problems. 6 Pour a cup of vinegar in a spray bottle and spray around the car interiors. Vinegar is safe on carpet and cloth but should not be used on leather. Spray the solution on the surface and let it sit for 5 minutes. Wipe vinegar away with a clean damp cloth. 7 Place an odor absorbers or odor neutralizers like Oust or Febreeze near the source of the odor. These products are made to eliminate the smell and not just simply mask it. You may consider placing natural odor absorbers like a bowl of un-brewed coffee grounds, baking soda, sliced onions, bowl of vinegar or activated charcoal. Natural odor absorbers may be required to sit overnight. 8 Place a mint freshener or some crushed mint leaves in the car as it is a natural mice deterrent and keeps them away. Oldsmobile . How to Get Air Freshener Smells Out of the CarThough air fresheners are intended to help your vehicle or home smell nice, it is possible to go completely overboard and use too much. If this happens, the smell can seem overpowering and that can make travelling in your car unpleasant. If you want the smell gone, it's more of a time consuming task than it is a difficult one. With a little effort, your vehicle can once again be fragrance free. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Shop vac White vinegar Bucket Baking soda Clean cloth or sponge Step by Step : 1 Clean out the interior of the car and dispose of all trash. Remove any blankets or seat coverings so you can wash them to help get the odor out of them. Read the care label or instructions before washing. 2 Vacuum out the interior of the vehicle to remove any dirt or debris that may also be hanging onto the smell. If you don't own a shop vac, you can usually find one at a gas station or car wash. 3 Fill a bucket half full and add a cup of white vinegar for every 2 cups of water. 4 Add a large scoop of baking soda to the bucket. This will cause it to fizz quite a bit so it's important to make sure that the bucket isn't too full. 5 Dip a clean cloth or sponge into the solution and wipe down any plastic moldings and metal. 6 Wipe all of the interior areas with a clean dry cloth to absorb excess moisture. 7 Sprinkle baking soda over the upholstery liberally. The baking soda will help to absorb odors out of the upholstery and out of the air. 8 Vacuum up the upholstery in the morning. Tips & Warnings Leave the windows cracked to allow air flow throughout the car if the weather permits. *power has to get to the wheels in the proper way for the wheels to respond most efficiently. There are ways to convey that extra power to the wheels by controlling how fast they turn in relation to the engine's speed when you're going up a hill, pulling a heavy load, or just trying to overcome inertia and get the car started. So your transmission has more than just forward and reverse gears; it has low and high gears, too. Some transmissions have as many as six forward gears to control power and speed efficiently. (I won't even talk about those huge semis with 14 and more forward gears!) In all cases, the lower gears provide more power at lower speeds. The higher gears provide less power but allow the vehicle to move at higher speeds because the wheels can 405

Chapter 9: Take the Drive Train: Understanding Transmissions... 1 fi Q Hou/ Porter Ftorts through the Drive Train You can more clearly visualize how power flows through the drive train by following the flow of power through it. Figure 9-1 shows all the components as they are located on a vehicle with rear-wheel drive. If your vehicle has front-wheel drive, Figure 9-2 shows you the way the power flows through a transaxle. The principles and parts are pretty much the same in each type of drive train: Figure 9-1: The drive train in a vehicle with Oldsmobile . Will 1985 22re engine interchange with a 1991 22re engine?

When you are not stepping on the clutch pedal, this disk is forced against the flywheel (see Step 4). A coating of friction material causes the two plates to adhere to each other, which forces them to turn at the same speed. 4. Next to the clutch disk is the clutch pressure plate. This mechanism forces the clutch disk against the flywheel or allows it to move away from the flywheel when it is time to change gears. Here's how it does that: • When you step on the clutch pedal to disengage the clutch and disconnect the engine from the transmission, a clutch release arm forces a throwout bearing into the pressure plate's release levers. As a result, the pressure on the clutch disk is released, and the disk can turn independently of the flywheel. 1 7Q Part II: What Makes It Go? • After you move the gearshift to the proper gear, you release the clutch pedal. This movement causes springs in the pressure plate to force the disk against the flywheel again, and both the disk and the flywheel resume spinning together at a new speed. Oldsmobile . On the clutch side of the flywheel, the drive train continues, but its name changes. It is not called the crankshaft anymore; it is now called the transmission input shaft because it carries the power via the turning shaft into the transmission. It rotates at the same speed and in the same direction as all the parts I've covered up to now. 6. Inside the transmission is a group of gears of varying sizes. These gears can move together and apart, in various combinations, to determine how fast and with how much power the car's wheels will turn, and in which direction. 7. This time it is called the transmission output shaft because it transmits the power that the transmission is putting out to the driveshaft. Oldsmobile .
